In a major move to expand its healthcare offerings, Amazon has announced the acquisition of One Medical, a leading provider of primary care and virtual health services. The all-cash transaction is valued at approximately $3.9 billion, with Amazon paying $18 per share for One Medical.
One Medical has built a strong reputation for its patient-centric approach to healthcare, offering a range of services including in-person and virtual consultations, chronic disease management, and preventive care. The company operates over 185 health centers in more than 25 markets across the United States.
The acquisition will allow Amazon to further integrate its healthcare and technology platforms, creating a more seamless and convenient experience for patients. Amazon has already made significant investments in healthcare, including the launch of its virtual health service, Amazon Care, and its pharmacy, Amazon Pharmacy.
The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. It is expected to close in the second half of 2023.
